FLUX has received €3.4 million in continued funding for the period 2024-2027

In the second period, the project will expand its work with new activities that will contribute to the societal impact of research.

The Strategic Research Council (SRC) has granted the FLUX project a total of €3.4 million in continued funding for the period 2024-2027.

“At FLUX, we are looking for evidence-based solutions to one of the most crucial issues for Finland’s future – demographic change, which challenges the social and economic sustainability of society. In addition to high-quality research, the project focuses on active dialogue with decision-makers,” says Marika Jalovaara, Director of FLUX.

The SRC offered projects the opportunity to apply for additional funding for new activities to increase the societal impact of their research. FLUX received funding for three new activities. The first will assess the uncertainty surrounding fertility trends and projections, while the second will investigate the link between psychological well-being and family formation. The third will focus on interaction, building a professional development programme for policy makers, practitioners and researchers working on demographic issues.

“The new activities will bring new perspectives to our research and further strengthen our cooperation with policy makers,” says Jalovaara.

The consortia funded under SRC programmes normally run for six years, but the funding is granted in two three-year periods. The funding for the second period is granted based on an application for continued funding and the information provided in an interim report. The consortia that were granted continued funding were launched in October 2021 and have now received funding until September 2027.
